What does a day with medication logs look like?

A day with BarnOps medication logs runs through the feeding round, so doses are checked off at the stall door instead of on a whiteboard. Say the vet puts Maple on an anti-inflammatory for three days. The barn manager opens Maple's profile in the app, adds the medication under Current Medications, types the schedule as AM and PM with feed, picks a duration of 3 days, and saves. BarnOps reads AM and PM from the schedule text and shows the medication on Maple's card in Feeding Rounds from the start date through the end of day three.

At the 6:30 AM round, the feeder marks Maple as fed. That unlocks the AM Medications row, and she taps Confirm. The row turns to Given, and the card shows All Given or Partial when Maple has more than one medication. Because this is a short-term medication, BarnOps also writes a treatment log entry, Medication given, with the product, the round and the directions. If she tapped the wrong horse, unchecking the confirmation removes that entry too.

Not every dose happens at feed time. When the vet gives an injection at 2:00 PM, staff open Treatment Log on the horse, choose Medication, enter the product and dosage (for example 10ml IM), add a note, tick Vet involved and pick the vet, and set a follow-up date if one is needed. Photos can be attached to the entry.

What gets recorded?

BarnOps keeps the medication instructions, each round's confirmation, and a treatment history for every horse.

• ✓Medication name, schedule text, duration (ongoing, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week, until gone, or a custom end date) and start date.
• ✓Which round it belongs to: AM, PM, both, or with feed.
• ✓Each confirmation: horse, medication, date, round, who confirmed it and the exact time.

• ✓Who logged the entry. Vet appointments from the calendar also appear in the horse's treatment timeline.

Who can see and change it?

Barn owners, managers and staff can confirm medications in Feeding Rounds and add treatment log entries for any horse. Horse trainers can log treatments. Boarders can confirm medications for their own horses while the barn leaves the Feed horses permission on, and can add treatment log entries for their own horses. When the medication list on a horse profile changes, BarnOps can send a Horse care update push notification to owners, managers and staff.

What are the limits?

Medication tracking is built around the feeding round and the treatment log, so a few things work differently from a pharmacy system.

• ✓Medications reach Feeding Rounds when they are entered on the horse profile in the mobile app. Editing the medication text on the web dashboard does not add or update round check-offs.
• ✓Confirmations happen in the mobile app. The web feeding page shows medication orders but does not confirm them.
• ✓Only AM and PM rounds exist. A noon or bedtime dose belongs in the treatment log.
• ✓The auto-created log entry is dated to the round (8:00 AM or 6:00 PM). The exact tap time stays on the confirmation. Manual entries take a date, not a time.
• ✓There are no dose reminders or push alerts for a missed medication, and no medicine inventory.

How do you set it up?

• ✓Open each horse's profile in the app and list current medications with a schedule and a duration.
• ✓Write AM, PM, morning, evening or twice daily in the schedule so BarnOps places the dose on the right round.
• ✓Add your vets as vendors so treatment entries can name the vet involved.
• ✓Decide whether boarders keep the Feed horses permission, which lets them confirm medications for their own horses, then show staff that a horse is marked fed before its medications can be confirmed.
